NEIGHBOURS

“Neighbours” was a light installation as part of Bristol Light Festival in 2020 and 2022.

This piece responds to the infamous Banksy install ‘Well Hung Lover’ which is situated on Park Street, Bristol. Banksy’s work shows a woman and man looking out the window, whilst a third man hangs outside from the window. My response depicts what would be happening in the other 8 windows?

The work celebrates the diverse and eclectic communities of Bristol, recommissioned in 2022 to explore post pandemic life and how this has changed us. My piece shows people interacting with the original work, passing each other groceries, clapping for the NHS (a nod to the chaos of UK politics amidst the pandemic) and also the communities of Bristol who are often overlooked but are a valuable part of society, like the homeless. The 3 tiers also represent class divides within the city.
